The blade is made of tough spring steel HRC55, phospated. Handle and safety sheath made of Glock polymer. The Glock field knife has a thick blade that does not break off even under the hardest loads and uses as a tool. So it is possible to use the knife also for digging or as a bottle or can opener. Since the blade is made of carbon steel, it is easier to sharpen and more stable compared to ordinary stainless steel blades, but tends to rust a little easier when wet. The field knife can still be used as a throwing knife. The cavity in the handle, which is closed with a plastic cap, is used to hold it on the rifle as a bayonet for the Austrian assault rifle (Steyr AUG). The cavity can be used as a storage space for matches, for example.
